China LED conferences welcome international participants

May 26, 2006
Two important LED-related events – CIF-SSL and CIOE - take place in China later this year.
Organizers for the China International Forum on Solid State Lighting (CIF-SSL) have announced several key speaker additions to this year’s agenda. The event takes place in Shenzhen, China on July 12-14.

The CIF-SSL conference promises to offer attendees a blend of business and technology updates along with networking opportunities that will connect international manufacturers and suppliers to many of China’s SSL companies and national SSL committee personnel.

Recent additions to the speaker line-up include Robert Steele of Strategies Unlimited, George Craford of Philips Lumileds, Asif Khan of the University of South Carolina and Steven Denbaars of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Now in its 3rd year, the CIF-SSL has become recognized as a key connection to the burgeoning China solid state lighting marketplace. "China has made a strong national commitment of resources explicitly to the development and deployment of solid-state lighting solutions," said Robert Steele of market research firm Strategies Unlimited.

"I don’t see any other nation showing this level of commitment to deploying LED-based lighting solutions in such a broad-based manner. This commitment will help to make China one of the most significant world markets for solid-state lighting."

Additional scheduled speakers will bring a variety of viewpoints within the industry and include representatives from Korean and European photonics organizations, the US Department of Energy, and LED makers Cree, Epistar and Toyoda-Gosei.

China International Optoelectronic Exposition

Also in Shenzhen, the 8th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE 2006) takes place on September 6 - 9, 2006.
