Independence LED's new pricing on LED high bay lighting earns highest lumens-per-dollar ranking over warrantied life

Pennsylvania based Independence LED Lighting announced the 2016 pricing for its American Made LED High Bay lighting fixtures that are DesignLights Consortium (DLC) listed on the Qualified Products List (QPL). Given the high output, the new 2016 lower price points, and the 10 year warranty on the Independence High Bay LED lights, the fixtures deliver the Highest Lumens per Dollar over the Warrantied Life. This lumen/dollar metric ranks the products at the top of the global market in this specific LED lighting category for industrial facilities like warehouses and distribution centers.

Gymnasiums are also well suited for LED High Bays given that for decades they have used either High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps or multi-tube fluorescent fixtures that are all typically less energy efficient than the latest generation of LED technology. To date, the lighting industry has largely used lumens per watt (lm/w) as a guiding metric to determine fixture value. Lm/w is similar to miles per gallon (mpg) for vehicles, but it does not take into account cost. When buyers consider purchasing a car, the fuel efficiency is typically relevant, but mpg is only part of the decision relative to the total cost, features, and warranty on the vehicle. Lumens per dollar is a way to link the output of the light to the cost, and lumens per dollar over the warrantied life is a guide to determine lifecycle value and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

“We are pleased that energy analysts and the commercial lighting industry are starting to better understand ‘value’ relative to output, cost, and warrantied life,” said Charlie Szoradi, CEO of Independence LED, “Lumens per dollar over the protected warranty period make sense as an evaluation metric, especially for LED High Bay lights where the cost of replacement labor is a maintenance factor along with energy savings.”
