Newport announces power and optical meters

June 12, 2006
Date Announced: 12 Jun 2006 Irvine, California – May 23, 2006 – Newport Corp., a worldwide leader in laser and photonic solutions to make, manage, and measure light, today announced its new 1931-C and 2931-C power and optical meters. These new cutting-edge, patent-pending photonic instruments provide power measurements from 10 pW to 40 W, using photodiode detectors, and are capable of pulsed measurements up to 20 kHz, which is an order of magnitude higher than other commercially available products."When Newport unveiled our new 1935-C power and optical meter family last January at Photonics West, we introduced the flagship instrument to the laser and photonic industry. Our new 1931/2931-C instruments continue this tradition, once again setting the global standard for performance," said Ron Hartmayer, Newport’s Director of Marketing for Photonics Instrumentation. The 1931-C power meter family is an ideal solution to measure optical power of any type of laser, laser diode or broadband light source, in many applications including research, product development, QA testing, and manufacturing. The meters are able to store up to 250,000 data points internally, with a USB based external flash memory to expand this memory capability. Designed to provide ease-of-use, they use a menu-driven interface with soft keys and help functions. A large full color TFT LCD display allows excellent visibility of all instrument settings and measurement data. These colors can be easily changed to accommodate different laser safety goggles.Hartmayer continued, “Our new 1931-C power meters are another example of Newport’s ability to provide complete solutions to make, manage, and measure light. Today, our customers can find laser-based products such as our new Spitfire Pro® amplifier or Tsunami® HP oscillator to make light, high-performance vibration and motion control equipment such as our SmartTable family and fast steering mirrors to manage light, and the best photonic instruments such as our new 1931-C family to measure light, all from a single source.”
