Lightfair Innovation Awards honor excellence in lighting

LEDs and solid-state lighting products, along with the LM-80 standard, won all the big prizes at the Lightfair awards ceremony.
LIGHTFAIR® International (LFI), the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, celebrated the industry’s most innovative product designs and lighting projects at the 20th annual LFI Innovation Awards (LIA) ceremony. The awards took place prior to the opening of the 2009 LFI trade show floor on Tuesday May 5.

The Awards presentation honored industry innovations in an overview of the latest lighting-related products and designs introduced in the past 12 months. This year, LFI received 218 submissions, and each individual product was judged by an independent panel of renowned lighting professionals. The 2009 LIA winners are:

Immediately following the LIA presentation, the 20-year exhibitors, representatives from IES and IALD and LFI’s show management, AMC, Inc., participated in a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The ceremony recognized the evolution of 20 years of lighting and the growth of the LFI trade show and conference to date. This took place at the entrance of the trade show hall floor, where thousands of attendees stood, awaiting the 2009 opening of the show.
