SSL program solicits applications for core technology research

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released the Core Technology Research solicitation as part of its Solid-State Lighting (SSL) program.

Core Technology Research focuses on applied research needed to advance SSL technologies, providing problem-solving knowledge and data needed to overcome previously identified barriers.

There are four separate areas of interest to which an application can be submitted:

* LED high-efficiency semiconductor materials

* LED device approaches, structures and systems

* OLED materials issues

* OLED packaging, encapsulation and fabrication
