Intematix has found another licensee for its white LED phosphor technologies.
Intematix Corporation has signed a multi-faceted licensing agreement related to white LED technology with LumiMicro, a Korean company that provides high-brightness white LEDs for LCD backlighting and camera phone flashes.

Last month, Intematix announced the first licensee for its white LED phosphor technology, as well as launching its off-the-shelf phosphor products (see Intematix licenses white LED phosphor technology to AOT).

LumiMicro will use the Intematix patent-backed phosphor in its core and emerging businesses - the latter includes high-power LED applications.

According to Intematix CEO, Ruediger Stroh, “Our two companies recognize the importance of the high power applications, especially in the context of the rapidly growing and commoditizing backlight and camera flash segments. We are committed to the high power markets for the long-term, and are willing to invest in those emerging applications while serving today’s volume needs.”

“We have integrated our unique packaging technologies with optimized phosphor from Intematix, and will continue to rely on Intematix to reliably tune their phosphor as our innovations continue,” said Sung-Bin Cho, CEO of LumiMicro.

Intematix’ Discovery Engines allow the development of unique material compositions that can then be rapidly customized for unique thermal conditions, manufacturing processes and Bills of Materials, including a choice of chips at various wavelengths and support for a variety of resins.
