Cree XLamp(R) LEDs chosen for ASP Triad flashlights

Date Announced: 12 Jan 2007

Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE - News), a leader in LED solid-state lighting components, today announced that ASP, a manufacturer of high-precision flashlights used by law enforcement and military personnel, has designed Cree's new XLamp 7090 XR-E Series power LEDs into its top-line Triad flashlight models.

Cree XLamp 7090 XR-E Series LEDs lead the industry in brightness and efficiency, critical features in battery-powered, portable lighting applications such as hand-held flashlights. XR-E Series LEDs also produce the high-quality, uniform white light required by flashlight manufacturers. The new white Cree XR-E series LED produces typical luminous flux of 80 lumens at 350 mA, yielding 70 lumens per watt, and establishes a new class of LED performance.

"Our customers literally stake their lives on the performance of our lighting products. Through our relationship with Cree, ASP now offers flashlights featuring the world's most advanced LED technology," remarks Kevin Parsons, Ph.D., ASP chief executive officer. "Our new Triad product line is now a unique new class of high-performance, high-reliability safety flashlights."

"ASP's adoption of Cree's XLamp XR-E Series power LEDs is further compelling evidence of the value Cree provides through our new lighting class of LEDs," notes Norbert Hiller, Cree general manager and vice president for XLamp power LEDs. "ASP is recognized internationally as a top-quality flashlight maker, and we are especially pleased that Cree LEDs are the light sources for the new Triad product line."
