Date Announced: 01 Dec 2010 In a move designed to expand the growth of the Hamsar’s lightening and electronic product lines in Canada, Laura Smith, National Account Manager, Canadian Sales has announced the appointment of Lyman Agencies Ltd. of Burnaby, BC as agent for Hamsar products for markets west of Thunder Bay.Responding to the announcement Ken Morrison, owner and President of Lyman, noted the exceptional quality and performance of Hamsar products. “We have been impressed by their Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting technology and the firm’s engineering capabilities for some time,” he said, “and we are excited to be part of such an aggressive and innovative company.” The addition of Hamsar, Morrison added, is a perfect fit with the other lines of automotive aftermarket and industrial products represented by his firm.Roman Pedec, Hamsar’s Vice President of Engineering, responded to Morrison’s comments by noting that the company’s current line of LED units for vehicle use represents more than a year of development and testing. “Bringing these products on-stream required countless hours, many prototypes, and a substantial investment of capital to refine the LED concept to our objectives,” he said. “The primary challenge was to reduce the physical size of the units while maintaining all the regulatory requirements for safety, luminosity and beam coverage.” Severely tested under real-world conditions, the LED units deliver a wide range of user benefits. For the Fleet vehicle segment it means reduced maintenance as a result of their 20,000-plus hours of luminosity. Other benefits include less vehicle downtime, lower inventory requirements by distributors and jobbers, and maintenance departments plus a smaller carbon footprint due to lower energy requirements.Extensive research and engineering advances by Hamsar has produced LED units that are easily installed in OE or retrofit applications and all exceed the performance levels of halogen and xeon and similar old technology. For example, Hamsar was among the first LED manufacturer to employ breakthrough optical design considerations such as TIR (Total Internal Reflection), enabling it to substantially reduce unit size and power requirements. “We have only begun to deliver all the important advantages of LED technology in vehicle lighting applications,” said Laura Smith. “This change in sales coverage and marketing activities is a means of bringing these developments to the marketplace as quickly and efficiently as possible."
