Color Kinetics appoints new UK distributors
Color Kinetics Incorporated today announced its growing presence in the European market with the appointment of two new distribution partners in the UK.
In addition, the company will support the local lighting industry as a new member of the European Lighting Designers Association (ELDA).
Color Kinetics’ Q4 2005 revenues from European sales increased 102% year over year, including contributions from the UK market. Today Color Kinetics’ lighting systems are applied in many notable local installations.
Most recently they were used to light the beacon atop a 22-story residential tower in London’s Tabard Square – allowing it to change color according to barometric conditions. As the atmospheric pressure changes, the color of the beacon changes, providing a measurement of weather conditions that is visible for many miles across the city.
Other installations of note include Plantation Place, Great Ormond Street Hospital, City Place House and 27 Knightsbridge in London, the Corner House in Nottingham, and the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. Color Kinetics’ systems were also used to light the set of The X Factor -- one of the UK’s top-watched entertainment programs with an estimated 10 million viewers.
“We are very pleased with the sales growth achieved in 2005, and we look forward to working with our new distribution partners to make continued strides in 2006. We now have the broadest sales coverage in Europe in the company’s history to date,” said Neil Gamble, Director of European Sales.
The newly appointed partners are:
Solus Solutions Ltd. (Representing Northern England and Scotland)
ECI Lighting (Representing Ireland)

Color Kinetics has also announced new roles for its senior sales executives. Philip O’Donnell has been promoted to Vice President, Americas, Europe and Middle East Lighting Systems Sales. Ray Letasi will become Vice President, APAC Lighting Systems Sales, including responsibility for Color Kinetics Japan.
O’Donnell joined Color Kinetics in September 2005 as Vice President of North American Sales, leading direct and channel sales for the company’s Lighting Systems business. A highly-regarded lighting industry veteran, he brings extensive sales, business development, and management experience to his role, which will now include responsibility for Color Kinetics’ domestic sales force, its growing sales presence in Latin America, Europe and the Middle East, and its affiliates operating across many distribution channels.
Letasi joined Color Kinetics in 1999 and most recently served as Vice President of International Sales, in which capacity he managed the company’s internationally dispersed sales force and broad network of distribution partners. In his new role, Letasi will return his focus to the Asian markets, which he previously oversaw as Regional Vice President for two years. During that time he led Color Kinetics’ sales initiatives and distribution partnerships, and contributed to marketshare growth in the region. He was also instrumental in building Color Kinetics’ presence in the Japanese market, including the establishment of Color Kinetics Japan.
