Date Announced: 23 Mar 2006 Lighthouse has supplied large-scale LED video screens for a number of high-profile events, including the Commonwealth Games.LED-based video screens from Lighthouse Technologies of Hong Kong provided a dramatic visual backdrop to one of the most important awards events in the Italian performing arts calendar. Five screens were deployed for the televised Telegatti event, each one composed of a number of modular video panels.A circular screen above the stage was used for moving text displays, while screens at the sides and back of the stage were capable of showing both live and pre-recorded video and graphics. The two large screens at the back of the stage were each formed from 103 video panels, and curved in an arc from the centre of the stage both outwards and downwards (see figure). The screens were provided by Italian rental company VideoRental, which is seeing increased demand for LED screens in set design. “The resolution and refresh rate can be absolutely critical for televised events,” said VideoRental’s Enrico Pascoletti. “But the Lighthouse screens were perfect for the job.”Lighthouse has also announced several major customer wins in the Asia-Pacific region:Some 28 LED screens were deployed for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. Screens have been positioned by Bytecraft Entertainment at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Rod Laver Arena, the State Netball 7 Hockey Centre and the Athletes Village. Mobile displays followed the triathlon and marathon as they wound their way around the streets of Melbourne. In addition, video screens were deployed along the Yarra River to show the opening ceremony, while six of the video displays are dedicated to live sites around Melbourne and other regions. US rock group Green Day chose Lighthouse's video screens to relay the band's performance to fans at recent concerts in Melbourne. Installed by Australian production company Big Picture Australia, two on-stage screens measuring 4 m x 7.6 m were supported by two larger screens positioned at each side of the stage.Lighthouse is teaming up with Bytecraft Entertainment to supply the South Australian Jockey Club with a 57 m2 screen mounted on a mobile truck. After making its debut at Morphetville Racecourse, the mobile unit will tour all the major racetracks around Adelaide and South Australia. This will include the famous "Oakbank", which is held each Easter and is one of Australia's largest national races. The Melbourne Cricket Ground will soon house two new panel screens that are each 16 m wide and 1 m high. The screens will be used to project images during major sporting tournaments such as international cricket test matches and Australian Football League (AFL) events. The contract also represents the first installation for Lighthouse's new F12-ER fascia panel screen. And in another significant deal, Lighthouse has sold a number of its R16 indoor/outdoor screen panels to UK rental company XL Video. Some 100 m2 of the LED screen has already been sent out to Michael Flatley’s US tour, while a further 75 m2 will cater for current UK demand.
