Date Announced: 24 Oct 2008 Dornbirn, October 9, 2008 – After once again reducing the color location tolerances of white LEDs, TridonicAtco now offers LED solutions with significantly improved white light appearance. By making changes to the color definition, production methods and measurement process TridonicAtco has succeeded in setting new standards for white LEDs. This Austrian specialist is the only manufacturer in the world to offer white LEDs in accordance with the CIE 1964 colour space standard.The white LEDs from TridonicAtco are now fully reproducible with no discernible color location discrepancies, and differences in white light perception have been significantly reduced. This is thanks to a new and unique production process introduced by the Austrian company. The improved process is further supported by adjustments to the color definition and measurement method. TridonicAtco is therefore once again setting new standards in LED solutions.This development of the production methodology and the associated improvement of the white LEDs is TridonicAtco’s reaction to the needs of its customers. The Austrian company is now the only manufacturer in the world to offer white LEDs in accordance with the CIE 1964 color space standard. This standard very closely corresponds to the sensitivity of the human eye and therefore meets requirements very much better than other lighting solutions currently available. Color location definition based on the CIE 1964 standard is consequently more appropriate for applications in which color perception over a large area is an important criterion, such as large illuminated advertising signs. The new white LEDs will be used for signage, general illumination and spotlighting. Illuminating large areas has been difficult in the past because even small deviations in the color location were considered annoying. Further development of the TALEXX family of products means that TridonicAtco can supply LEDs that are unique in terms of their uniformity and that offer white light of unsurpassed quality.
