Alpha Presenting LED Technical Papers at Upcoming SMTA Conferences in Malaysia and China

April 16, 2015
Somerset, NJ – April 16, 2015 – Alpha, the world leader in the production of electronic soldering and bonding materials, will present a technical paper on low-temperature assembly of LED Packages on PET & Polyimide Flexible Substrates at the upcoming SMTA technical conferences in Penang, Malaysia and Shanghai, China.

The paper, co-authored with Multek, a global supplier of rigid and flexible printed circuits, explores how enabling the use of PET flexible circuits can provide significant system cost benefits compared to either FR4 rigid boards or Polyimide flexible circuits. In this study, Alpha utilizes its new generation low-temperature solder paste, Lumet™ P53 with SBX02 alloy to provide low-temperature LED package on PET substrate reflow capability, which enables the use of PET flex substrates.

P.H. Tan, Senior Application Engineer for Alpha – Penang, will be presenting the paper titled “Enabling the Use of PET Flexible Substrates for LED Lighting Applications” at the Penang conference in Malaysia.

In Shanghai, the paper will be presented by William Yu, Technical Service Manager for Alpha – China. In addition, Yu will be presenting a technical paper titled “Process Considerations in Reducing Voiding in High Reliability Lead Free Solder Joints”.

“Alpha’s strong understanding of emerging trends in LED markets and applications has resulted in several innovative products for the LED market,” said Ravi Bhatkal, VP of Energy Technologies for Alpha. “We look forward to presenting our work on mid-power LED package assembly on PET flex circuits at SMTA’s technical conferences.”
