Loyola Marymount University Upgrades with Daktronics LED Displays

Sept. 8, 2015
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 8, 2015 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) of Los Angeles, California, to design, manufacture and install multiple LED video displays including a center-hung display system. The displays will be installed at LMU’s Gersten Pavilion in multiple stages with the full system in place by mid-October.

“We are excited for the transformation Gersten Pavilion will be experiencing,” said Athletic Director Dr. William Husak. “LMU has partnered with Daktronics in most of our facilities to enhance the game experience. We are excited for our fans and student-athletes because the LED displays will add to and change the game experience. That change will extend to all who attend the many events held within Gersten Pavilion.”

The center-hung configuration includes two large video displays measuring approximately 11.5 feet high by 21 feet wide. The displays will feature 10-millimeter line spacing and wide-angle visibility. They will incorporate variable content zoning technology, allowing them to show a single large image or to be divided into zones that can be filled with any combination of live video, instant replays, scoring information, up-to-the-minute statistics, sponsor highlights and animations.

The installation will also include an end-wall LED display along Gersten’s south wall measuring 5 feet high by 11.5 feet wide, seven court level displays measuring 3 feet high and 9.5 feet wide, two fascia displays measuring 3 feet high by 64.5 feet wide and an outdoor marquee display over the concession stand in the Gersten Pavilion atrium measuring 2.5 feet high by 49 feet wide. All of the displays listed feature a 10-millimeter line spacing and will help enhance the fan experience by keeping everyone informed of the action.

The first stage of installation, which includes the end-wall display, both fascia displays and the court-level displays, were completed this week and will be used for the first time at volleyball’s LMU Invitational starting on Sept. 10 against Long Beach State at 7 pm. The centerhung display and concession stand marquee will be installed in October with a target date of Madness Weekend (Oct. 22-25) to have the system fully functional.

“We are very proud to partner with LMU,” said Eric Cain, Daktronics sales representative. “LMU is a top-class university in every way and we are committed to providing top-class quality and service for many years to come. We can’t wait to see the impact this system will have on the game-day experience in Gersten Pavilion.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
