Holophane David Currie Award for 2014-2015 is presented to LIA Advanced Certificate student

June 3, 2016
The Lighting Industry Association’s (LIA) Advanced Certificate provides the opportunity for students to take their lighting technical knowledge to a higher level. All enrolled students also have the opportunity to enter the Holophane David Currie Awards.

These award commemorate the impact David Currie had at Holophane; with regard to lighting and in particular training to which he was a great enthusiast.

In celebration of David, these awards are presented every two years to the best student on the LIA Advanced Certificate Courses, which cover, Interior lighting, Exterior lighting and Light measurement.

The finalists presented their work to the esteemed judging panel of Chris Wilkes from Holophane Europe Ltd, Andrew Pease from Mackwell, and the LIA’s Nigel Brumpton. This year’s three finalists were chosen from over ninety entries.

The 2014 & 2015 Holophane David Currie Award Winner is John Bullivant from Eterna Lighting who was presented with the Award plus a cheque for £1000 and Certificate.

John’s project demonstrated his knowledge gained from the course and his presentation showed his ability to apply this by logical and lateral thinking to answer our questions.

The two runners up, Aiden Foynes of Thorlux and James Davison of Desco both receive a cheque for £150 and Certificate.

The Awards were presented at The LIA's Annual Luncheon Event in May 2016 at The Draper's Hall, London by and Steve Davies, LIA CEO and LIA President, Peter Scott of Fern-Howard Lighting.

The LIA would like to thank the judging panel for their time and enthusiasm and Holphane Europe Ltd for their support and commitment.
