Philips Retail Light sheds light on the future of fashion with museum exhibit

Oct. 9, 2014

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and Philips Retail Lighting have combined forces to generate a special light experience in the museum’s new exhibition ‘The Future of Fashion is Now’. From Saturday 11 October, when the exhibition opens, Philips will light more than a hundred innovative fashion creations with the latest standard for quality lighting.

Lighting is vitally important to the impact of fashion. It attracts people and involves viewers in the visual experience of fashion. Sjarel Ex, director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen explains, ‘The lighting plan for this exhibition, which is about fashion and involvement, is a crucial element of this immersive experience.’ For Philips Retail Lighting, which specializes in lighting solutions for shops, the combination of fashion and design within an artistic environment is a perfect match. As Marketing Communication manager of Philips Retail Lighting, Didie Schackman, explains: “With perfect lighting solutions like StyliD and innovative LED technology like CrispWhite, this collaboration is ‘spot on’.” ‘The Future of Fashion is Now’ will show work by more than fifty international fashion designers, from well-known names like Iris van Herpen and Viktor&Rolf to young, up-and coming talent from all over the world. With important themes such as fashion, innovation and technology, the exhibition and Philips’s Retail Lighting Division are a seamless fit.
