August marked the 40th Anniversary of luminaire and lighting control manufacturer, LSI Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: LYTS). The company celebrated with a brief public event at its corporate headquarters in Blue Ash, OH, during which one of its three original co-founders, Jim Sferra, outlined the creation of an official LSI time capsule – to be next opened in 2026 at the 50th Anniversary celebration.
Although not all contents of the time capsule “vault” were revealed, Jim did share stories about several items of LSI significance, including some of the original 1976 hand-drawn drafts for what became LSI signature lighting fixtures, patents, several photos that chronicled LSI’s growth over the years, early literature & selling tools, promotional items, press inclusions, representative latest LSI product innovations (including innovative new silicone optics for LED fixtures and new IMAGE Brand LED drivers), and documentation related to LSI’s most recent “lean transformation” efforts (exercises in the establishment of efficient best practices through complete staff involvement).
