Lighting Industry Veteran Aims for Widespread Adoption of Solid-State Plasma Technology
Los Angeles, Calif. – February 16, 2010 – Topanga Technologies, a leader in the next generation of solid-state plasma lighting, today announced the appointment of Greg R. Barry as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Barry comes to Topanga with more than 25 years of experience in senior management positions at leading lighting companies, and a successful track record of growing both domestic and international market share and revenue. He has a deep working knowledge of all aspects of company operations, including sales and marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and finance. As part of the appointment Mr. Barry will also serve as a Topanga Technologies board member.
Mr. Barry assumes his role as President and CEO immediately, in place of co-founder Mehran Matloubian, who has taken the role of Chief Strategy Officer. “We are energized by having a world class executive like Greg leading the team at Topanga,” said company founder Mehran Matloubian. “Greg’s management experience and strong leadership will help us scale the business while delivering on the great promise Solid-State Plasma Lighting holds for our customers.”
Mr. Barry has a proven history as a senior executive responsible for building teams, expanding market-share, growing profitability, and delivering upon aggressive measurable goals across a number of industries. Mr. Barry began his career with General Electric in various sales and management roles over a 14 year span. With more than five years as Vice President of Product Market Development at Acuity brands, Mr. Barry comes to Topanga from Hubbell Lighting where he served for the past five years as Vice President and General Manager.
Mr. Barry earned a BA from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Central Michigan University. He and his family will be relocating to the California area.
