Aladdin launches LED business; former GE executive Murphy named CEO

Date Announced: 13 Jan 2010

Clarksville, TN - Aladdin Mantle Lamp Company, a 100 year old, global lighting company, has announced the formation of Aladdin Lighting Technologies (www.aladdinltg.com) a LED lighting solutions business.

Through exclusive partnerships with NCS Power, Inc. (www.ncspower.com) and The Davis Groupe (www.davisgroupe.com), Aladdin is currently offering a family of T8 LED fluorescent replacement lamps. ETL certification and LM-79 testing were both completed in December, 2009. Production of these lamps and future LED products will be transferred from Asia to Tennessee during Q1, 2010.

"In leveraging Aladdin's brand, NCS Power's technology and The Davis Groupe's manufacturing, Aladdin Lighting Technologies has developed a fast, flexible and focused LED lighting business," said Tom Downer, Chairman, Aladdin Mantle Lamp Company.

Aladdin Lighting Technologies has hired George Murphy to run their LED lighting business. Murphy was a senior executive with GE Lighting during the 90's and ran DaimlerChrysler's global marketing team until 2007.

"I am excited to be back in the lighting business with Aladdin as LED's position themselves as the dominant lighting technology. With great partners at NCS and The Davis Groupe and the recognized Aladdin brand, Aladdin Lighting Technologies is positioned for solid growth," said Murphy.
