OSA Opto Light unveils high efficiency SMD-LED with doubled light intensity

OSA Opto Light GmbH (OSA) – a German based LED producing company- will introduce by the second quarter two new product lines, using high efficient thin film dices. Based on OSA packages OLS 330, an 1206 SMD with lens, and OCL 400, a white ceramics package, will doubled the external quantum efficiency and thus brightness. All devices are ROHS conform and lead free solderable.

The Green, Red and yelow LED´s of the OLS 330 Series reach 1,5 Cd and above at 20 mA. Te OCL 400 series, an lambertian emitter, reach about 500 mCd at 20 mA in the white, warm white (2900K), red, green and yellow version. Based on the improved thermal resistance of 60 k/W (OLS 330 150 K/W), the OLC 400 line can be used at increased currents (30 mA at green and blue, 50 mA in the case of yellow and red). The degradation analysis showed an excellent long time stability of the devices.

The devices can be recommended for high demanding exterior displays, back lights and illuminations. In battery powered systems they are the solution of choice due to forward currents about 100 µA to achieve clear readable interior displays. The LED´s can be measured under custom specific conditions. OSA as supplier of custom specific solutions can provide other packages like 0805 and 1206 and bicolour solutions (OLS 130, OLS 153)
