Lumileds orders Aixtron MOCVD machine for AlGaInP LEDs

AIXTRON today announced that it has received a new order from Philips Lumileds Lighting Company for an AIX 2600G3 IC MOCVD Planetary Reactor.

The new multiwafer MOCVD tool will be used for the production of HB-LEDs based on the semiconductor alloy system AlInGaP for red emission.

Amongst the distinguishing features of the AIXTRON 2600G3 IC is the unique automatic wafer handling system which establishes the highest yields for epitaxial material based on extremely accurate and reproducible wafer loading making it perfectly suited for high volume production of HB-LEDs.

The additional business further supports the long time relationship between AIXTRON and Philips Lumileds that has been fruitful for both partners considering the complex technology today’s LED manufacturing is requesting. It has been a key factor in Philips Lumileds ability to rapidly develop and manufacture HB-LED products.

The new AIX 2600G3 IC provides a further step-function in its capabilities for the company's expanding range of red emitting HB-LED products.
