Seoul's Acriche lighting source receives UL Mark

The Acriche A2 and A3 series AC-driven LEDs have been awarded safety certification from Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
Seoul Semiconductor's Acriche A2 and A3 series semiconductor lighting sources have been tested, evaluated and found in compliance with the specifications required to bear the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) Component Recognition Mark.

UL has worldwide recognition as an important safety standard for a wide range of industries. UL compliance is seen as particularly important for manufacturers attempting to penetrate the US market, and the lack of a UL mark had been previously acknowledged as a barrier for the Acriche product.

Before a product is eligible to bear the UL mark, it must successfully complete a certification process and a thorough follow-up process to ensure continuous compliance with the applicable requirements.

"As the technology and efficiency of LEDs improve, luminaire manufacturers will be able to choose from a broader set of components, giving them more flexibility to design products that meet the market needs. Acriche is a great example of innovation in the LED lighting space," said Eli Puszkar, general manager, UL's Lighting SBU.

The UL Mark is the latest safety designation for Acriche. In December, Acriche received the European Union's CE-Marking and German TUV certification for product and environmental safety standards. Seoul Semiconductor says that UL designation confirms that Acriche meets the most stringent global standards for product component safety.

In addition, says Seoul Semiconductor, the UL recognition streamlines UL listings of its customers' final products.

The Acriche is a semiconductor light source with efficiency of 60 lumens/W that runs directly from 110V or 220V AC power at home or office without an AC-DC converter or a ballast, which reduces space for installation, maintenance cost and waste.
