Dialight Corporation has introduced a new line of LED-based traffic modules, including balls, arrows and pedestrian signals, that it says are the first in the industry to fully comply with newly established ITE specifications.
Significantly, Dialight is the first manufacturer to offer yellow LED traffic modules capable of meeting the ITE specifications up to +74 °C
Incorporating robust high-flux LED technology, the new line of signals meets the ITE VTCSH -- LED Circular Signal Supplement, as well as the ITE VTCSH -- Part 3: LED Vehicle Arrow and ITE PTCSI -- Part 2: LED Pedestrian Traffic Signal Module specifications for luminous intensity over the temperature range of -40 °C to +74 °C.
"This breakthrough in yellow LED modules makes it possible for governmental bodies that own and operate LED traffic signals to finally bring their intersections into full compliance with ITE standards," says Stewart Wilkerson, Dialight's traffic products manager.
The result, says Wilkerson, will be safer intersections and reduced risk and liability concerns. Many non-compliant yellow LED modules can meet ITE luminosity requirements only up to +25 °C.
The new signals also feature improved optics for an expanded-view radiation pattern suitable for span-wire and steep grade applications and uniform non-pixilated illumination.
Turn-on/turn-off time is less than 75 milliseconds, and failed-state impedance exceeds 250 k.ohms within 300 ms. Transient suppression exceeds ITE requirements and meets applicable NEMA, IEC and ANSI/IEEE standards.
The new Dialight line of ITE-compliant signals is available in red, yellow and green balls and arrows, as well as countdown and hand-and-person pedestrian signals. |
