Daktronics unveils ProTour modular LED display system
15 Oct 2004
Daktronics, Inc. will launch its all-new ProTour™ LED modular video system in conjunction with the Entertainment Technology Show-LDI convention (October 22-24 in Las Vegas, NV).
The modular displays, currently available in 6, 8 and 10 mm pixel pitches for indoor applications and 10, 12, 15 and 20 mm pixel pitches for outdoors, will be suited for touring events, sporting events, conventions and expositions, as well as religious gatherings - any instance where a display would be moved regularly.

"We created the new modular system to meet the needs of the industry - the most common requests being easier setup and less noise," said Mike Cooper, Daktronics modular solutions group manager. "We met and exceeded the challenges with a user-friendly control software, light-weight panels and a zero-noise panel design."

Featuring 3-in-1 surface-mount device (SMD) LEDs, the ultra-light ProTour panel weighs less than 25 pounds (11 kilograms). The light weight, along with a quick-release fasteners and convenient handles, makes display setup and teardown hassle-free. The unique, rugged architecture also allows flexible configuration to create displays of any size or shape.

Redundant panel-to-panel signal optimizes system reliability and display diagnostics provides active monitoring of display operation and troubleshooting support. If a panel is damaged during an event, its quick-release latches and simplistic cabling enables technicians to install a new panel in seconds.

Complimenting the modular display is the V-Tour™ event controller. Designed specifically for the modular market, the controller features a unique design studio that makes setup of even the most complex display arrangement a simple process. Developed for flexibility and ease-of-use, the design studio creates a virtual display and offers setup tools that unlock the power and versatility of the ProTour modular display system.

The V-Link® video processor completes the system by accepting live production feeds and enhancing signals to ensure true-to-life image reproduction on any ProTour modular LED display. The processor handles custom aspect ratios, supports a wide variety of formats and features True Pixel™ processing for brilliant images at every event.
