Job title: Optical Design Engineer

Kenall is a leading manufacturer of high performance lighting for commercial/architectural use and has an extraordinary career opportunity for an Optical Design Engineer with an emphasis on LED optical design and analysis to join our dynamic, advanced New Product Design team.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the optical, thermal and mechanical design and development of new products. You will provide technical expertise in the area of optical/photometric design and product development, and test/measurement related to LED lighting products. You will also conduct research and development of new optical technologies.

Education/Experience required

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering, Engineering Physics or Mechanical Engineering with a related discipline and at least 3 years experience in the design of optical systems, preferably Solid State LED technology in a lighting sector.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated understanding of optical materials, optical testing, reliability, and testing through the product development cycle.
• Familiarity with optical/photometric test equipment with a preferred knowledge of existing photometric test and measurement standards, and a fundamental understanding of optical manufacturing methods.
• Fluency in TracePro or Photopia preferred; proficient user of SolidWorks or other CAD-based tools.
• Previous experience with injection molded plastic and/or die-cast part design a plus.
