| Position: VP Business Development
Reports to: President
Location: Austin, Texas, USA
Position Description:
The VP Business Development is responsible for identifying and creating opportunities for the initial sale of products into the marketplace. This person will be tasked with developing the product strategy, understanding the lighting and LED markets, and pursuing and developing customer relationships in pursuit of revenue targets. We are seeking an aggressive yet strategic person with startup experience and proven ability to close early deals with major customers.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and evaluate lighting markets in both general illumination and consumer electronics
- Gather intelligence on customers and competitors
- Define competitive advantages of company’s technologies and products
- Make use of his/her own contacts in industry
- Create product roadmaps and product specifications based on customer demands
- Identify list of potential customers and initiate contact
- Generate leads for customer partnerships and sales
- Work in conjunction with sales team to close the initial deals
Qualifications/Skills:
- Personable, charismatic, and appropriately aggressive in pursuing deals
- Bachelors Degree in science, engineering, or business field
- Ten+ years experience in related industries, with LED or lighting industry preferred
- Startup and growth experience in high-tech field, with demonstrated success in similar roles
- Connections to markets in Far East preferred
- Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
