Feit Electric Company enforces its LED lamp patent rights against Cree

July 8, 2015
Feit Electric Company, Inc. has filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina against Cree, Inc. to curb infringement of Feit Electric Company's patents. The complaint alleges that Cree's line of 4FLOW LED lamps infringe U.S. Patent Nos. 8,408,748 and 9,016,901.

"Feit Electric Company fully supports competition in the market but competition by patent infringement is not acceptable" said Aaron Feit, president of Feit Electric Company. "Our company invests in LED lighting technology and we are building a patent portfolio to protect our position in the market. The action commenced today against Cree is simply that strategy put into action."

Alan Feit, executive vice president of Feit Electric Company, explained that Feit Electric Company has "been building a patent portfolio organically in conjunction with product development and through opportunistic acquisitions."

In the action, Feit Electric Company is seeking an injunction against sales of Cree's line of 4FLOW LED lamps and damages for past infringing sales.

Feit Electric Company is represented in the action by Garret Leach, Eric Hayes, and Kourtney Baltzar of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
