This footbridge is an elegant and harmonious work of art.
In designing this new footbridge, Dietmar Feichtinger Architects agency wanted above all to avoid disturbing the majesty of this historic shrine. This major engineering project on stilts extends over a length of 760 meters and is solidly fixed on 134 steel studs. In total harmony with the environment, wooden decks make the footbrigde’s floor.
Separating elements were installed between the footpathway and the street dedicated to shuttles. Placed on most of the linear, they are used to secure the footpath and also provide a resting point. Visitors can then take time to appreciate this spectacular and organic scenery.
The discreet up-lighting of this major civil engineering project gives all the attention to the Mont-Saint-Michel.
296 bespoke LED light bars 5620-Brunei each of them measuing 1,45 m were manufactured by LEC.
They are integrated underneath the separating linear and diffuse a consistent and homogeneous lighting over a length of 430 meters. To avoid encroaching on the Mont-Saint-Michel own lighting, LEC’s light bars are directed downward and up-light the footpathway only. Source of visual comfort, the LED light bars’ lighting intensity can be dimmed anytime from the central pilot in the Mont-Saint-Michel upstream.
The embedding cases are here used as cable protections and have enabled a neat installation perfectly integrated to the footbridge.
