Indoor linear lighting products from Horner Lighting Group receive NGL recognition

Sept. 17, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Horner Lighting Group has received recognition on four products in the 2014 Next Generation Luminaires™ (NGL) Solid-State Lighting Design Indoor Competition. Awards were presented September 17 at The LED Show in Los Angeles, CA. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the International Association of Lighting Designers, the NGL awards recognize excellence in suitability, quality, and energy-efficient LED commercial lighting design and are judged based on lighting quality, appearance, serviceability, efficacy, value, and dimming.

“We are thrilled to have our products yet again recognized,” said Phil Horner, President & CEO for Horner Lighting Group. “With four awards in the Indoor competition, it is a demonstration of how powerful remote phosphor technology is and its validity in the LED lighting market.” Of the total 266 products submitted to the 2014 NGL indoor competition, 211 were approved to continue to the judgment phase resulting in 57 products being awarded “Recognized,” meaning they were considered worthy of specification in the application for which they were designed. NGL entries are evaluated by a panel drawn from the architectural lighting community. All four of the Horner products awarded ‘Recognized’ in this year’s NGL competition are from our Linear Remote Phosphor line and were submitted in the Industrial Luminaires category. The recognized fixtures included: • 2-tube Low Bay Linear Remote Phosphor fixture (entry #169): This 160-watt fixture can be used for new installations or as a replacement for 6-tube T8 or 250 watt HID high bay fixtures. • 3-tube High Bay Linear Remote Phosphor fixture (entry #166): This 220-watt fixture can be used for new installations or as a replacement for 6-tube T5 or 400 watt HID high bay fixtures. • 6-tube High Bay Linear Remote Phosphor fixture (entry #168): This 430-watt fixture can be used for new installations or as a replacement for 1000 watt HID high bay fixtures. When used with optional “Aisle” reflectors, this 6-tube fixture can be used for mounting heights of up to 60 feet. • 1-tube 3500K Surface Mount Linear Remote Phosphor fixture (entry #170): This 80-watt fixture can be used for new installations or as a replacement for 3-tube T8 fixtures. The unique mount can work in pendent, box or ceiling mount requirements. All these recognized remote phosphor LED linear luminaires combine cutting edge technology with a familiar look, featuring rugged aluminum and polycarbonate construction. The smart, minimalist, compact design provides up to 50% higher system efficacy compared to conventional LEDs. Their high-output light engines create a controlled, smooth, low glare light source, even when dimmed. Optional motion sensors and wired or wireless control even further aid in energy use reduction.
