Each seminar will last for approximately 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. Speakers and other Zhaga experts will be available afterwards for further discussions.Seminar A is entitled “Zhaga: LED modules and interchangeability shape the lighting industry,” and will be presented by Musa Unmehopa, who will take over as Secretary General of Zhaga on April 1.This seminar will provide a short introduction to Zhaga, and will discuss the meaning of interchangeability. The speaker will describe the business case for using the Zhaga specifications, and the potential benefits that could result.Seminar A will also include a discussion of Zhaga’s future directions, including new Books that are in development, as well as the way in which Zhaga plans to enable LED modules and drivers that are independently interchangeable.Seminar B is entitled “Testing, certification and the Zhaga logo” and will cover the Zhaga certification procedure, the role of test laboratories, and the meaning and use of the Zhaga logo. It will also discuss the rebate program that is helping to offset the cost of testing.Seminars C and D will each describe a single Book in detail, and are aimed at design engineers and other professionals that are interested to use these Books to design LED modules, luminaires and other products.Seminar C will focus on Zhaga Book 4, which describes high-intensity LED light engines for outdoor lighting applications.Seminar D will take a close look at Zhaga Book 7, which describes a range of rectangular LED modules that are used for indoor applications such as office lighting.About ZhagaThe Zhaga Consortium develops interface specifications that enable the interchange of LED light engines manufactured by different companies. Zhaga is a global cooperation, with members that include luminaire makers, lamp manufacturers, LED module makers, and companies that supply components and materials to the lighting industry.Zhaga’s approach is to specify the interfaces between LED light engines and LED luminaires. Each Book defines the interfaces – mechanical, thermal, photometric, electrical and control – for different categories of LED light engine. Using Zhaga specifications, a luminaire maker can use LED light engines from different suppliers without having to change the design of the luminaire.
