Anderson Stadium first to use 13HD technology for soccer, lacrosse

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with Providence College to design, manufacture and install new main and marquee LED video displays for Anderson Stadium in Providence, Rhode Island. Friars’ fans will be the first college to experience 13HD technology in a collegiate venue used specifically for soccer and lacrosse after the installation is completed in early 2016.

“We are excited to be working with Daktronics again to enhance our new soccer/lacrosse venue, Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium,” Providence College Athletics Director Bob Driscoll said. “Several years ago Daktronics provided the video displays for the renovations of Mullaney Gymnasium. We have been pleased with the service and quality of the products. We are looking forward to this state-of-the-art HD video display at Anderson Stadium. I believe our fans will be thrilled as this will add to their in-game experience and help us promote Friar Athletics to the community.”

The new main LED display will feature a 13HD pixel layout and will measure 12 feet high by 18 feet wide to provide crisp, clear imagery at wide angle visibility. On the reverse side of the main display, a marque display will face the outside of the stadium to welcome fans to each event. This display will also feature a 13HD pixel layout and will measure approximately 8.5 feet high by 14.5 feet wide.

The LED video displays each feature variable content zoning to provide one large image or each can also show multiple windows with any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, animations and sponsorship messages. Both displays feature industry-leading environmental protection to ensure they provide excellent image clarity and contrast during any type of weather and outdoor elements.

“We’re excited to partner with Providence College to bring these visual upgrades to Anderson Stadium,” said Dave D’Amico, Daktronics sales representative. “The displays will provide an elevated fan experience inside the stadium while also extending the fan interaction to the outside as fans come and go from any event. We’re looking forward to seeing the final installation making an impact in 2016.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
