WEEE compliance organization Recolight appoints new board members and chair

Recolight, the leading UK WEEE compliance scheme for the lighting industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Chairman, Peter Florack. Peter Florack, Senior Director at OSRAM AG, has over ten years’ industry experience. Peter replaces David Wyatt of GE Lighting who retired at the end of 2014, having served as Chair for seven years. Peter has considerable experience of WEEE in a number of other EU countries. He has been on the Recolight board for over three years. In addition, Steven Reed of GE Lighting has re-joined the Recolight board after a seven year absence. As Commercial Operations Manager of GE Lighting UK, Steven’s years of experience and knowledge of the UK lighting industry, make him well suited to support Recolight’s board. Other members of the Recolight board are Maurice Loosschilder Sustainability Director at Philips, also with experience of WEEE across Europe, who joined Recolight in September 2014, and Bridget Anderson, Financial Controller of Havells Sylvania who joined in January 2014. Announcing the news, Recolight Chief Executive, Nigel Harvey said: “We’re very pleased that Peter Florack has accepted his new role as Chair. Peter joined our board in 2011 and has been integral in our recent developments. As a result, since its founding in July 2007, Recolight has been responsible for funding the recycling of over 200 million lamps, LEDs and luminaires, preventing over 800 kg of mercury from going to landfill.

In 2012, Recolight won “Recycling and Waste Management Business of the Year” at the National Recycling Awards and Nigel Harvey, Recolight’s CEO, was recognised as LUX Man of the Year.
