Recolight's CEO to speak at LuxLive 2014 on new WEEE legislation

Oct. 22, 2014

Nigel Harvey, CEO of Recolight, the leading UK WEEE compliance scheme for lamps, will be speaking at LuxLive 2014, discussing the key changes and consequences of the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations. The presentation will take place at Tech Theatre Two at 1.00pm on Wednesday, 19 November.

LuxLive 2014, which takes place at ExCel between 19-20 November, will showcase the latest innovations in the world of lighting with news from the world’s biggest lighting brands and industry experts. Commenting on Recolight’s attendance at the exhibition, Nigel Harvey said “It is crucial for us to be present at such a prominent event. The lighting industry is changing rapidly leading to an increased need for Producers of new light fittings to provide their customers with the means to recycle both lamps and fittings”. The importance of this was highlighted in a recent survey conducted by Recolight which showed a clear response from industry professionals. 95 per cent of the 780 respondents agreed that all lamp producers should be required to offer free lamp recycling to their customers. Mr Harvey continued, “It is vital that we are able to communicate upcoming changes and solutions to key influencers within the sector so that we can all work together to increase UK recycling rates”. The Recolight team will be available throughout the show to discuss the world of WEEE and to provide lamp recycling advice and support. Having already contributed to a significant increase in the UK’s lamp recycling rate, from 39.5% in 2012 to 52.8% in 2013, Recolight is on course to enable the industry to meet the expected increase in waste lamp recycling targets.
