MaxLite's wet-listed Marquee LED lamp supports outdoor signage applications at hotels and casinos

Sept. 15, 2014

West Caldwell, New Jersey – Generating significant reductions in energy costs and power consumption for the hospitality market, MaxLite introduces the Wet-Listed Marquee LED Lamp. The 2.5-watt LED lamp is ETL wet-listed and designed to replace inefficient incandescent and cold-cathode fluorescent (CCFL) lamps for outdoor signage applications at hotels, casinos, restaurants, resorts and amusement parks.

“Converting from incandescent or CCFL lamps to our latest LED marquee replacement lamp will reap major benefits for facility managers and owners,” said Product Marketing Manager Alex Truong. “For today’s green-conscious consumer, the LED lamp offers 50 times the lifetime of a standard incandescent and is constructed without hazardous materials, unlike the CCFL.” MaxLite’s new LED Marquee Lamp uses a nominal 2.5 watts as a retrofit for standard incandescent, which consumes 11 watts, and CCFLs that typically consume three watts. This conversion can result in an immediate reduction in power consumption by 16 to 77 percent, or more. Additionally, while incandescent lamps produce a tremendous amount of heat, the LED lamp produces minimal heat during operation and reduces cooling costs in indoor applications. The LED lamp offers a lifetime that is 50 times longer than the average life of an incandescent lamp (1,000 hours) and 64 percent longer than the life of a CCFL (18,000 hours at L50 standards). For example, if 1,000 11-watt incandescent marquee lamps were replaced with an equal amount of 2.5-watt LED Marquee Lamps, the facility owner would save 425,000 kilowatt (kWh) of energy and $133,650 in energy and maintenance costs over the L70-rated 50,000 hour lifetime of the LED product. This estimation is based on kWh energy rate of $.13 and a maintenance cost of $.60 per lamp replaced. Constructed for optimal thermal management that extends life and lumen output, the LED marquee lamp offers the same warm color and brightness as incandescent lamps. At a similar price point to the CCFL counterpart, the LED lamp is a more efficient and constructed without mercury, UV radiation or heavy metals. The warm white LED marquee lamp switches on instantly to full brightness, an important element of hotel and casino outdoor signage lighting that can be linked together, alternately rotated or programmed for chasing applications. Available in clear or frosted styles, the lamp is designed with a collimator that projects an omnidirectional lighting pattern, including backwards. The LED lamp operates on 120-volt electrical systems. View the product page at http://www.maxlite.com/products/marquee-bulb.
