Jan. 19, 2011
This year’s ARC Show 2011 featured a number of interesting LED-related companies and products, and some relevant business announcements.
The ARC Show 2011 took place on January 12-13 and as usual showcased a number of lighting and component companies working with LEDs. Among the various announcements around the show, Arrow signed a distribution agreement with Carclo, and Architainment was announced as an authorized distributor for EcoSense Lighting (see below). The ARC Show covers architectural, retail and corporate lighting (hence the initials), and has returned to its original home in the Business Design Centre, London, an older building which makes good use of daylighting:

A new version of the standard circular module will produce 2000-lm, and AlphaLED had a prototype luminaire using this module in combination with a very large reflector to produce a powerful 10-degree beam:

Arrow’s Paul Drosihn and Carclo’s David Sumner at ARC As announced at ARC, Arrow Electronics, Inc. will distribute lighting products from Carclo Optics, in the EMEA region. Carclo, based in Slough, UK, supplies a range of lighting products including lenses, reflectors, optics and modules. “Following our numerous successful projects in Northern Europe, we are now expanding our cooperation with Arrow in the EMEA region in order to benefit from the distributor’s broad range of customers and expertise in the lighting segment,” explains David Sumner, LED Optics division manager, Carclo Technical Plastics.

Arrow operates an EMEA Lighting Team, a dedicated group providing system integration capabilities and concept-to-production design services to European lighting customers. In combination with technical consultancy from this group, Arrow offers an overall product range for the development and production of a lighting application, from drivers and connectors through power and thermal management solutions through to LEDs.

“The high degree of specialization of Carclo’s Optics division, which has its own development, specialised tooling and polish capabilities, opens up new service opportunities for us,” says Paul Drosihn, technology development manager in lighting, Arrow EMEA.

Ecosense Lighting appoints Architainment Lighting Ltd.

USA-based lighting manufacturer EcoSense Lighting has signed Architainment Lighting Ltd. as an Authorised Distributor of its line of specifier-grade LED lighting solutions for commercial and residential applications. The deal will extend the availability of EcoSense products across architectural, retail and entertainment market segments throughout England and Wales. EcoSense Lighting showcased its product line at the ARC Show 2011.

To assure uniform color-temperature across fixtures, EcoSense has developed a highly-stringent LED binning criteria resulting in a yield that exceeds the ANSI standards requirement by 400%. This ensures that project standards need not be compromised by inconsistent color output from unit to unit.
