OLED lighting makes an entry at Light+Building

OLED illumination was demonstrated by a number of manufacturers and designers at the recent Light+Building show.

Zumtobel OLED demonstration One interesting, and perhaps suprising, aspect of the recent Light+Building show in Frankfurt was the widespread appearance of OLED lighting modules, prototype luminaires and design concepts. Philips, Osram, Zumtobel, GE and others featured OLEDs as part of their exhibits, while for OLED specialists including Novaled and NEDO, OLED was the main focus.

Osram's booth featured an extensive OLED installation designed by LichtKunstLicht, and incorporating hundreds of Orbeos OLED modules - see the Osram press release and the following video:

In a booth named "OLED Japan", the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) showcased energy-efficient OLED lighting technology, including products from Panasonic Electric Works and NEC Lighting, as shown in the video below:

Novaled will introduce ultraflat OLED luminaires at Light+Building

OLED demonstration at the GE boothGE and Minolta GE Lighting partnered with Konica Minolta to demonstrate OLED technology at Light+Building. The demonstration relied on flexible, 3×6-inch, ultra-thin panels that Konica Minolta plans to produce using a roll-to-roll manufacturing process that's been under development since November 2009 - see GE and Konica Monica partner on OLED lighting demonstration.
