Cree has completed the acquisition of Cotco, Avago and Marketech have new websites, Luminus and Quantum Leap have new executives.
Cree completes Cotco dealCree has completed the acquisition of privately held COTCO Luminant Device Limited, headquartered in Hong Kong. Cree's intention to acquire COTCO was announced March 12, 2007 (see Cree buys Chinese LED manufacturer Cotco).

The acquisition of COTCO, a leading supplier of high-brightness LEDs in China, provides Cree with strategic access to this important and fast-growing solid-state lighting market. It also will provide Cree with a low-cost manufacturing platform and will help Cree to leverage its investments in LED chip technology and intellectual property, as well as its investments in sales and marketing to offer more value-added products in key markets for high-performance LED-based screens, signage and lighting.

Avago launches LED lighting website
Avago Technologies today announced the launch of a new user-friendly lighting website at www.avagotechlighting.com that contains all of its LED lighting components and solutions in one convenient location.

Avago says that its new web-based comprehensive resource center was developed specifically for lighting designers who are constantly faced with time-to-market issues and need to quickly find the right LED solution to shorten their design cycle.

New website for Marktech
Marktech Optoelectronics has launched a revamped version of its website at www.marktechopto.com. This version of Marktech's website features an easy-to-use database of LEDs from Cotco, Toshiba and Marktech and LED drivers from Toshiba.

In addition to its LED and driver lines Marktech has added a complete section of LED assembly and manufacturing services that it provides to its customers.

Luminus adds to sales and marketing team
Luminus Devices has expanded its staff with two key appointments in sales and marketing. Matt Mazzuchi has been appointed as director of sales and business development, and Paul Fredrickson has been appointed as director of marketing.

“Luminus has entered its next stage of growth,” said John Langevin, vice president of sales and marketing at Luminus Devices, Inc. “Our manufacturing capacity has increased significantly as Samsung and LG Electronics are both launching new PhlatLight-based products this quarter. Matt and Paul will allow us to maintain the highest levels of service and support that our customers have come to expect.”

Fredrickson has extensive experience in marketing new brands and technology to the consumer electronics channel and was formerly the vice president of marketing and strategic planning at NuVision, an affiliate of Mitsui Comtek and marketer of premium digital televisions.

Mazzuchi has extensive experience in sales and marketing in the display industry and an in-depth knowledge of microdisplay light engines, optics and illumination. He was formerly the vice president of sales at LUXIM Corporation. Prior to that, Mazzuchi held various sales and marketing positions at JDS Uniphase and the BOC Group.

Quantum Leap appoints VP of business development
Quantum Leap Packaging, a provider of high-performance semiconductor packaging utilizing Quantech™ proprietary polymers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Fritz Johnson as Vice President of Business Development.
