Lumileds Future Electronics improves access to Luxeon technology

March 23, 2005
High-power LED manufacturer Lumileds Lighting and its distribution partner Future Electronics have formed Lumileds Future Electronics(TM), a joint effort to improve customer's access to Lumiled's Luxeon high-power LED products.

The purpose of the venture is to enable lighting system manufacturers and designers to easily and quickly engineer, prototype and manufacture solid-state lighting systems incorporating Luxeon LEDs. Lumileds Future Electronics is described as "a single, global resource offering services and resources not offered by any other lighting or electronics distributors."

These services will be available from affiliated system integrators and component suppliers that form part of the Luxeon Lighting Network, as well as through Lumileds Future Electronics itself. Customers will be able to gain access to certified providers in areas such as Luxeon assembly, board integration, illumination systems, standard and custom optics, heat management solutions, optimized power solutions, and technical, design and manufacturing support.

"We have made a major commitment to this program because of the phenomenal interest in Lumileds products," said Jamie Singerman, who heads the division for Future Electronics.

The initiative expands Future Electronics' four-year-old role as the exclusive distributor of Lumileds LEDs to create a single point of customer contact for sales, marketing and technical solutions. The effort involves a new Future Electronics division with dedicated Lumileds call centers around the world, factory-trained technical experts focusing solely on Lumileds solutions support, engineering resource centers offering technical design assistance, and referrals to Certified Solutions Partners. The division also provides worldwide Lumileds inventory, custom binning programs and 24-hour customer support.

"Our enhanced relationship with Future Electronics will enable customers to take full advantage of our leadership in LED technology," said Mark Swoboda, Lumileds Executive VP of Sales and Marketing. "With all the resources required for success in creating complete solid-state lighting solutions now available in one place, we have established a new model for sourcing and supporting LED-based lighting systems."
