The LED junction temperature tester from Acorn Technology measures the differential temperature between that at the LED junction and ambient, using the LED's own junction as the sensor and a reference LED to measure the ambient temperature. A simple calibration procedure is performed with the LED inside an environmental chamber, and the tester measures temperature rise with 0.1 degree C accuracy. It can measure temperature for discrete components as well as for LEDs that are mounted in an application.
