| Detailed Description Photonix Limited is a compound semiconductor growth and fabrication facility. It owns a fully equipped clean-room and offers custom LED fabrication. The InGaN and GaAlAs reactors of the Universities of Strathclyde and Glasgow are located here. The facility has been used since 1999 to fabricate both InGaN and AlGaInP chips.
Photonix Limited was established in 1998 by Scottish Enterprise and the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde as a not for profit company to support start-ups and spinouts by providing shared fabrication capabilities. It is located in a 10,000 square foot clean-room facility in Glasgow. The facility is a company incubator and currently supports the manufacturing activities of 5 SMEs: CST Global, Apex Optical Technologies, DesignLED, Thin Film Innovations and Exxelis.
Photonix offers both open access and serviced foundry services. It owns and operates a full suite of micro-fabrication tools and processes to support production, research and development in all aspects of microstructure technology. The facility is used by companies, research institutes and universities to manufacture a range of electrical, passive micro-optics and active optoelectronics components. The materials processed include a variety of compound semiconductors (GaAs, InP, InGaN & SiC), glass, diamond, sapphire and a range of polymers that are used to create devices used in fibre optics, sensors and displays.
Facilities include a wide range of photolithography, dielectric and metal deposition, annealing and dry etching and post-processing services including test and device integration. |
