SimuLED software package (www.semitech.us/products/SimuLED) is an engineering software for LED/LD design and optimization uses a multi-scale approach to LED modeling.

An accurate drift-diffusion model is applied for the carrier transport and recombination in the active region, while the currrent spreading in contact layers is described within the Ohm law. The heat transfer analysis and self-heating effect is taken into account self-consistently. The program uses the information on the light emission intensity distribution in the active region and predicts the light intensity distribution over the LED surface, the far-field distribution, extraction efficiency, total light output, etc.
