OEC AG provides optical design services. The core competence of the company is the design of illumination systems and optical free-form elements. By mathematical and numerical tools like 2D- and 3D tailoring of free-form elements OEC we tailor the shape of optical surfaces, e.g. reflectors and lenses, in such a manner that any desired brightness distribution on a target surface can be produced from a given light source.

OEC AG helps designers of high-precision illumination systems to efficiently use light, i.e. to distribute it specifically with minimal loss. We tailor optical systems for a variety of applications. Automotive interior and exterior lighting, the design of display backlights, tailored optics for LED-custom packages, light-pipes for switches and buttons, photovoltaic concentrators, optics for endoscopes, light-therapy and optical medical analysis devices, the design of general indoor and outdoor lighting, emergency lighting and technical lighting for sensors and heat-production are only a few examples.

In addition to our optical design services, we represent Optical Research Associates, ORA, with their high-end software products LightTools and CODE V in the German speaking countries. LightTools is an illumination design program for optical system modeling, illumination analysis, and scatter and stray light studies. CODE V is an optical design program for image-forming and fiber optical systems. Together with ORA, we provide expert technical support and software training.
