Ilumisys rebrands as Toggled, names Brent York to Board Directors

Altair has rebranded its LED lighting subsidiary Ilumisys as Toggled, and has appointed Brent York, CEO of Tangenesys Consulting, to Toggled’s Board of Directors. York will provide guidance to support Toggled’s strategic intent to become a leading global LED lighting manufacturer.

Troy, Michigan-based Toggled is focused on the development and production of LED tubes that are designed to replace standard fluorescent lamps. The company has 25 patents issued to date and more than 50 patents pending.

Toggled says that it anticipates rapidly growing demand for its commercial-grade products. “As our LED lighting business moves out of research and development and low-volume assembly and into high-volume commercial production, we wanted to recognize this milestone by rebranding as we launch our new automated manufacturing operations,” said Dave Simon, president of Toggled.

“With linear fluorescent replacement representing the largest LED lighting retrofit opportunity, the Toggled brand will encourage the active decision to change to next-generation, energy efficient lighting. We look forward to promoting our Michigan-made products under the Toggled brand nationwide and globally.”

York was the chief technology officer of TIR Systems, Ltd, which was later acquired by Philips. Regarding his new role with Toggled, York said: “Achieving global manufacturing competitiveness with foundational intellectual property at a time when the LED lighting market is poised to grow by an order of magnitude is exciting, and I look forward to 2013 as a real breakout year.”

Lighting Science appoints new CEO

Lighting Science Group Corporation (OTCQB: LSGC), an LED lighting manufacturer based in Satellite Beach, Florida, has appointed Jeremy Cage as chief executive officer, effective January 2, 2013. Cage is a former senior executive with PepsiCo, Inc.

Cage said that he intends to accelerate growth at LSGC by “building on the company’s core competencies of excellence in innovation and strong and differentiated brand development.”

Over the past decade, Cage served in key executive positions at PepsiCo, Inc., including senior VP of innovation and insights for its US beverage business, chief marketing officer of International Foods, and, most recently, senior VP of the Global Snacks Group.

Cage added that LSGC will “focus on unleashing the science of light and sustainable technologies to markets ranging from major cities, commercial centers, factories and retailers in developed markets to entire cities and villages in developing and emerging markets. There is much to do, and I am eager to get started.”

Nualight appoints new Chairman

Ireland-based LED lighting company Nualight has appointed Per Langholz as its non-executive chairman.

Langholz is the former president of Sylvania Lighting International, where he led the company to profitable operation and annual turnover of over EUR400 million. He has over 25 years of experience in the lighting industry.

Langholz succeeds Eamonn Quinn of the Quinn family, founders of the Superquinn grocery chain. Quinn will remain on the Nualight Group board.

Quinn welcomed the new appointment, saying, “As we continue to grow globally and drive expansion into new market segments, Per Langholz’s experience will make a tremendous contribution.”

The Nualight Group is a LED lighting technology specialist with a core focus on retail, and has pioneered LED lighting in the refrigerated cabinets of many leading grocery retail chains.

The company has gone from startup status 5 years ago to employing over 200 people in three locations worldwide. Nualight is funded by Climate Change Capital, ESB Novus Modus, 4th Level Ventures and the Quinn retail family.
