Lednium has acquired the rights to use the technology contained in a series of white LED patents owned by Os-ram GmbH. The agreement covers Lednium's LED lamp products, a unique series of multi-chip geodesic dome-shaped LED lamps.
Last month, Lednium signed a joint R&D, manufacturing and marketing relationship agreement with TT Electronics Optek Technology, a visible LED manufacturer based in Carrollton, Texas (see Optek and Lednium form alliance to target solid-state lighting).
The white LED technology being licensed by Lednium, which was developed by the Osram Opto Semiconductors subsidiary, enables white LEDs to be produced with blue-emitting InGaN chips by using a suitable phosphor converter.
Osram Opto Semiconductors holds a large number of patents relating to white LEDs and has previously signed licensing agreements with Nichia, Rohm, Everlight, Lite On, Stanley, Harvatek, Ya Shin, Vishay and Samsung Electro Mechanics.

Along with the LED lamp products, Lednium also produces a range of end products such as architectural light-ing fixtures and automotive aftermarket assemblies such as tail lights and clearance lights. Lednium products have been designed and engineered to meet the highest of quality standards on an international level.
