Nichia seeks injunction against white LED Christmas lights
01 Aug 2005
Nichia Corporation has filed a provisional injunction action in Osaka District Court to prevent Doshisha Corporation from infringing one of Nichia's patents.

Nichia believes white LEDs used in certain Christmas illumination light products (Part No. LED-C200WBG) sold by Doshisha infringe one of Nichia's white LED patents (No. 3503139).

Nichia is seeking "injunctive relief" to prevent sales of the products.

The patent is one of several that Nichia owns concerning white LED technology, which enables white emission by combining a blue LED chip with a YAG phosphor.

Nichia says that it will "take necessary measure to protect its intellectual property rights against any companies in any part of the world."
